WHAT’S NEAR?
Abbey Gateway
Our Apartments are nestled next to the historically important Abbey gateway, a gatehouse built around 1300 and later fortified with crenellations granted in 1399 and 1410.
The current gatehouse, dating back to 1490, is the only remaining medieval building of the original monastic site. It now serves as the entrance to a Victorian house, originally Saighton Grange, which was later converted into Abbey Gate College.

WHAT’S NEAR?
Chester Cathedral
Chester Cathedral, originally a Benedictine abbey founded in 1092, transitioned into a cathedral in 1541 following the dissolution of the monasteries. It stands as a Grade I listed building in the heart of Chester and is a significant example of medieval architecture, encompassing various styles from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic.
The cathedral is known for its historical treasures, including the finest medieval choir stalls in existence and pre-Raphaelite mosaics.

It’s a Grade II* listed building and serves as a center for civic events and ceremonies.
